📝 Homework 1 – Lesson 1 – The Internet vs The Web
A lot of people get confused about the difference between the Internet and the World Wide Web. Your task is to create a guide that explains the difference and shows how they all work together with browsers and search engines.
Your Task
You must explain the relationship between these four key terms:
- The Internet
- The World Wide Web (WWW)
- Web Browser
- Search Engine
Create a poster (this can be on paper or digital) that uses an analogy to explain the four terms.
An analogy is a comparison to help explain something. For example:
“If the Internet is like all the roads and motorways in the country, then the World Wide Web is all the shops, houses, and buildings you can visit using those roads. A Web Browser is like the car you use to travel on the roads, and a Search Engine is like a sat-nav that helps you find the specific building you’re looking for.”
On your poster, you must:
- State your analogy clearly (you can use the road example or create your own!).
- Have a short, clear definition for each of the four key terms.
- Include images or drawings to help your explanation.
- Make it colourful and easy for someone else in Year 6 to understand.
