πŸ’¬ How to Use

The virtual library is full of extra resources such as tutorials, ideas, books, articles and videos. They cover each of the topics you do in class, as well as some you don’t. If you love Computer Science or want to find out more about something then use this library to help you.

πŸ“· 1 – Digital Media

In this topic you looked at how images and sound are stored on a computer using binary. You used Photoshop and Audacity to change those images and sounds to your own requirements.

Pixel Art Binary Generator

We looked at pixel art in this topic as it allows us to see how bitmap images are stored on a computer, the following website allows you to create a pixrl art image and then see how it would be stored on a computer in binary. As well as some forms of compression such as Run Length Encoding (RLE).

Mixing Colours

Learn more about how colours are mixed together on a computer, use the sliders for Red, Green and Blue to see what happens. There is also lots of interesting information that builds on what we have learnt about images on computers.

Find hidden messages in images

This website allows you to upload an image and then see if there are hidden messages stored inside the pixels of the image.

  1. Go here: https://georgeom.net/StegOnline/image
  2. Upload an image
  3. Then click “Browse Bit Planes”
  4. Click the arrows to see how the image looks when looking at parts of the colour spectrum. This is where spys and hackers store information that they want to send!

Mosh Lite (Image Editing)

This web app allows you to add some cool effects to images, it shows what might happen if an image gets corrupted for example.

Virtual Oscilloscope

An oscilloscope is a useful tool for anyone working with electrical signals because it provides a visual representation of the signal’s shape, or waveform. This allows you to measure properties of the wave, such as amplitude or frequency. This website shows a virtual online version that can use your microphone in sound files to investigate the sounds wave.
